The Mother of All Apple Trees in the Northwest Has Died

CNN has reported the unhappy news that a, “194-year-old apple tree, the matriarch of the Northwest apple industry, has died.” While the origin story of the tree sounds suspiciously cute, there’s no denying the tree’s longevity.

Glad to hear there’s already a plan to keep the variety, generically called the English Greening, alive and growing on the same spot.
